The Crystal Creek Public School Difference

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your average class sizes?

Crystal Creek Public School is a small, community-focused school with approximately 55 students across three classes. Our composite class structure includes a Kindergarten/Year 1 class, a Year 1/2/3 class and a Year 4/5/6 class, with an average of around 18 students per class.

Our smaller class sizes allow teachers to build strong relationships with every student, providing personalized support, meaningful feedback and opportunities for each child to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

How does the school handle bullying and conflict resolution?

At Crystal Creek Public School, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Our school takes a restorative approach to behaviour, helping students understand the impact of their actions, repair relationships and develop positive conflict-resolution skills. Staff work closely with students and families to address concerns promptly and foster a culture of kindness, empathy and respect.

Student leadership opportunities, including School Captains, Vice Captains and Sports Captains, also help promote positive role modelling and a strong sense of responsibility within our school community.

What academic support is available to my child?

Every child learns differently, and we are committed to supporting students at all stages of their learning journey.

Our teachers work closely with families to identify learning needs and implement personalised support strategies where required. Crystal Creek Public School is supported by two dedicated School Learning Support Officers, Mr Kane and Miss Immy, who work alongside teachers to provide additional assistance for students in the classroom.

Through targeted support, differentiated learning and ongoing monitoring of student progress, we strive to ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve success and confidence in their learning.

What are the tuition fees and associated costs?

As a NSW public school, Crystal Creek Public School does not charge tuition fees.

Families may incur some additional costs throughout the year, such as uniforms, excursions, camps and optional extracurricular activities. We aim to keep these costs affordable and provide clear communication to families regarding any upcoming expenses.

What extracurricular programs are offered?

We believe that learning extends well beyond the classroom. Students at Crystal Creek Public School have access to a variety of extracurricular opportunities that support creativity, confidence, leadership and wellbeing.

Programs and activities include:

• Small Schools sporting carnivals and representative sporting opportunities
• Music and performance opportunities
• Student leadership programs
• A school garden that promotes sustainability and environmental learning
• Beyond the Classroom excursions and incursions that enrich student learning through real-world experiences

Our unique rural setting also provides valuable opportunities for students to connect with nature, their local environment and the wider community.

How are technology and digital literacy integrated?

Technology is thoughtfully integrated into teaching and learning at Crystal Creek Public School. Students have access to iPads and laptops to support learning across a range of subject areas, helping them develop the digital skills needed for the future.

Alongside technology use, students are explicitly taught digital citizenship and online safety, ensuring they learn how to use technology responsibly, respectfully and safely. We believe in maintaining a healthy balance between digital learning and hands-on, collaborative and outdoor experiences.

Do I live within your enrolment zone?

Crystal Creek Public School welcomes enquiries from families both within and outside our local enrolment area.

While enrolment priority is given to families living within the school's designated catchment area, out-of-area applications may be considered where places are available. Families are encouraged to contact the school directly to discuss their individual circumstances.

How do teachers communicate with parents?

At Crystal Creek Public School, we believe strong partnerships between home and school are essential for student success. We maintain regular communication with families through School Bytes, which provides updates about student learning, school events, excursions and important announcements.

Teachers also communicate with parents through phone calls, emails, parent-teacher interviews and informal conversations when needed. We value open, two-way communication and encourage families to reach out at any time to discuss their child's learning, wellbeing or any concerns.

As a small school, we pride ourselves on knowing our students and families well, allowing us to build genuine relationships and work together to support every child's growth and success.
