Our extra-curricular highlights
Debating and public speaking
Students can develop their thinking, communication and teamwork skills through debating and public speaking. They also have the chance to compete in local and state events.
Creative and performing arts
Our drama, music and art programs help students be creative and express themselves. They can join in concerts, art shows and drama activities.
Trips and excursions
Our students enjoy getting out of the classroom to explore, learn and try new things. These experiences help them grow, build confidence and see how their learning connects to the world.
Our School Chickens
Crystal Creek Public School is home to a small, much-loved flock of chickens. Our younger students enjoy observing their behaviour, while older students learn how to care for them by providing food and water, maintaining their environment and monitoring their wellbeing.
Caring for our chickens provides valuable, hands-on learning that cannot always be achieved inside the classroom. Students develop responsibility, patience and practical animal-care skills while learning that chickens are intelligent, social animals that need companionship, enrichment and respectful handling.
The chickens also help children build empathy and respect for living things. By observing the calm and caring way our staff work with the chickens, students learn how people should interact responsibly and compassionately with animals.
Our chickens enrich school life by encouraging curiosity, cooperation and a deeper understanding of the relationship between people, animals and the natural world. They provide children with meaningful opportunities to nurture another living creature and experience the satisfaction that comes from contributing to its care.
